Ecology

Graduate Program of Ecology (Master's and Doctoral Degrees)

Program Description

The Master's degree program in Ecology was created in 1976 at the Institute of Biological Sciences of UnB, an important center for the production and dissemination of life-related knowledge and know-how. With the addition of the PhD program in 1994, the current Graduate Program in Ecology (PPGECL) was established and now is already consolidated and has excellent reputation both in Brazil and abroad. Much of the studies carried out at PPGECL are carried out in the Cerrado biome. This situation is due to the geographical position of the University of Brasilia, close to several conservation units.

The goal of the Program is to seek continuous strengthening of its position as a scientific and academic reference at regional, national and international levels, especially in topics related to tropical ecology, with emphasis on the Cerrado biome.

Research Topics

  1. APPLIED ECOLOGY
  2. ECOLOGY OF THE COMMUNITIES
  3. ECOSYSTEM ECOLOGY
  4. POPULATION ECOLOGY
