International Relations

International Relations (Master's and Doctoral Degrees)

Program Description

The Graduate Program in International Relations at the University of Brasilia was created in 1984 with the Master's program. It was a pioneer in the country and responsible for the consistent and continuous training of high-level personnel in the area of International Relations in Brazil. It has formed dozens of students from abroad. In 2002 the activities of the doctoral program began. The program was then reformulated, with the adhesion of an important group of historians of International Relations who worked in the Department of History of the University of Brasilia.

The proximity with the federal government and especially with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs allowed for the early development of well-sustained research objectives in the area of International Relations in general, and Brazilian foreign policy in particular. It is understood, therefore, that PPGRI-UnB is a consolidated program, endowed with an experienced faculty and mature curricular structure. The different scientific-academic initiatives, the national and international scientific cooperation projects, the dissemination programs and the program's own projection and nucleation capacity allow it to expand its social and academic impact on the formation of highly competitive intelligence in the area in Brazil.
